Video //
I started working in video a few years ago. When I got my first taste, I was all in. I had(ve) dreams of going back to school and studying cinematography and video production. Or just figuring it out. I have stacks of ideas for documentaries. I’m constantly analyzing font choices on the screen while I’m sipping wine and eating frozen pizza.
But for now, you can find me directing a video shoot, sifting through hours of footage, putting together creative briefs, or thinking of the perfect interview questions to get somebody talking.
My relationship with social media is an interesting one. To be honest, every time I hear that sweet little ding from my phone, I feel anxious. Over the last year, I’ve had to redefine my relationship with my Macbook for that very reason. As a marketer, it can be hard to detach from your work. Your work lives on your phone and computer, therefore, it’s always accessible. It always demands us in the world we’ve created. I go back and forth about how I feel about that. I don’t think I like it very much, but I do think it’s a necessary evil for now, and a very real way to reach your customers, audiences, and grow your brand. When Facebook kicks the bucket, we’ll see what’s next.
Email Marketing //
If I had to count (I don’t think I could, really), I’ve probably sent upwards of 750 email campaigns in the last 3 years. Does that sound like a lot? It feels like a lot. Probably because I have never held the title email marketing manager. It’s just always sort of fallen into my lap. Maybe because we belong together and I love sending email campaigns. Oh the segmentation you can do! Stats, you ask? I’m proud of them, but slapping screenshots of email campaigns statistics on my portfolio would really kill the look and vibe, so I’m not going to do that. Branding //
STOP, hold the phone. The biggest thing I find myself telling clients is to stop and breathe, walk before you run. You brand is what people are going to remember you by...hopefully forever. If you don’t know what your colors are, primary and secondary fonts, your voice, your messaging points...you're doing something wrong.
It’s time to stop and figure that out. Whip up (thoughtfully) some brand guidelines and get going. 💪
Automation //
If you know me at all, you’ll know one of my favorite words is “effortless.” In fact, if you know me at all and you’re reading this, you’re wondering why the hell I use it so much if I know I’m overusing the word. I use it because I think that’s the direction we need to move forward in in every aspect of our lives, especially in our marketing efforts.
Now, I’m not going to slap the recipe to my funnels for public use on my portfolio, but let’s talk about some of the large campaigns I’ve worked on that have made millions (literally) of dollars.

Analytics //
Back to the Comic Sans for a minute. (Can you tell I have a personal vendetta against this font?) If you’re client wants Comic Sans, you can advise, but at the end of the day, you can only guide. How to overcome this? Show them. Collect the data. Be rigorous…no OBNOXIOUS about data. Track it right so you can MAKE BETTER DECISIONS for YOUR business that affect your profits. Your future.
